The sales department can be considered to be the heart of any company because of the fact that it is this department that attracts and persuades consumers to buy their products or services. The sales department then is responsible for a lot of the money that a company gets. This of course also depends on what the company is selling.

There are two divisions of sales. If you want to be a salesperson, you can choose to be an inside salesperson or an outside salesperson. Some companies have both divisions, while others only have one; it sometimes depends on the product that the company is selling.

The major difference between the two divisions is obviously the way they conduct their business. Inside sales usually man that the people doing the selling are confined within the company office and transact with people over the phone. Outside sales on the other hand sees people going out into the field to sell their products in person.

People who want to work for a set amount of time every day in an office should become inside salespersons. Inside salespersons do their job without ever having to leave the office, and don’t have to meet people face to face at all.

On the other hand inside salespersons have o be there all the time for their customers during office hours. They should always be ready and available to respond to a customer’s questions, requests, complaints and concerns. There isn’t much you can do about your schedule because this job requires your full attention and effort. This is the stressful part about inside sales.

The magic about good inside salespeople is that they have the ability to sell a customer a certain product or service without the customer seeing it. Of course, sometimes visuals come into play but usually customers only get hold of what the product is and is about through your words. These descriptions are in most cases enough to convince a person to buy the product despite not seeing it so good communication is a premium.
